HIV and aids: Diakonia campaign in Sweden
This year’s Diakonia campaign in Sweden is called 'Faith, Hope and HIV'.
It deals with the major global justice issues realted to HIV and AIDS. The campaign strengthens Swedish donors and congregations involvement in Diakonia’s long-term work for change.

HIV and aids can be stopped

The HIV-virus is still being spread and is claiming victims all over the world. Poor women and children are worst affected. The HIV epidemic is also a major obstacle
to eradicating poverty. But the disease can be stopped. More measures, and increasingly powerful ones, are needed to turn the tide. Some of the structural elements needed to fight HIV and AIDS are political leeway for poor countries to invest in health care, knowledge and medicines supplies, as well as increased financial resources.

Congregations and donors in Sweden learn about our partners work

Diakonia’s partners around the world make a huge difference in the work against HIV and AIDS. In the campaign we inform our Swedish donors and congregation members about how our partners are working to help people lead a dignified life whether they have HIV or not. People who participated in the recent trip to Zambia will also share their experiences from meetings with parter organisations. They will speak about meetings with dedicated enthusiasts at grass roots level and about partners doing strategic lobbying work to change the causes of poverty and discrimination.

Stories from Zambia, Thailand and Honduras

With a number of newly produced pictures and narratives from Diakonia’s partners around the world, the Diakonia campaign invites more Swedes to get involved as Change Sponsors or to support Diakonia in other ways. We know that the donations make a difference. For Loveness in Zambia, for Naso Miso in Thailand and Marco Antonio in Honduras whose stories we tell in this year’s campaign – and for millions of others in Diakonia’s networks around the world.
